Brian Duffield’s sophomore directorial effort, “No One Will Save You,” follows his underrated debut in “Spontaneous.” While it doesn’t quite reach the same heights as his previous work, the film offers a fresh take on the alien invasion genre. It introduces Brynn, a reclusive woman grappling with anxiety, whose life takes a bizarre turn when her home is invaded by unearthly beings. Kaitlyn Dever’s exceptional performance as Brynn carries the film.
The movie starts with a strong pace and tension-building, immediately engaging the audience. Duffield’s direction creates suspenseful moments that keep you captivated. Although the pace slows down later, the film remains solid throughout its concise 90-minute runtime.
Dever’s portrayal of Brynn showcases her acting prowess in a physically demanding role. The film’s visual effects are impressive, used judiciously. While some creative choices may feel awkward, “No One Will Save You” is a compelling alien invasion thriller that highlights Duffield’s genre-blending talent. Visit my flixer for more!
