“It Lives Inside” marks the feature debut of director Bishal Dutta and is a supernatural horror thriller. The story follows Sam, an Indian-American teenager who, while struggling with her heritage, inadvertently releases a demon that thrives on her former best friend’s loneliness. Sam must embrace her Indian roots to confront this malevolent entity. The film’s premise is intriguing but ultimately feels derivative and overly cautious. Despite these shortcomings, “It Lives Inside” is a watchable and moderately entertaining film, largely thanks to Suri’s strong performance as Sam. Bajwa and Gabriel also deliver powerful supporting roles with emotionally layered scenes. Dutta successfully creates a creepy atmosphere that gradually builds tension, although the film relies too heavily on ineffective jump scares.
