Insidious: The Red Door concludes the long-running Insidious franchise, continuing the story of the Lambert family. Josh and Dalton Lambert must confront their suppressed memories and face their deepest fears as they try to find a way to move on. Despite its potential, the film suffers from messy execution, failing to fully explore the characters and their arcs. Directed by Patrick Wilson, the movie lacks a distinctive vision, but he manages to hold it together to some extent. While it offers a few effective jump scares, the overall horror experience is relatively tame. Simpkins and Wilson deliver solid yet unremarkable performances, while supporting actor Sinclair Daniel steals some scenes with much-needed energy.
